Update vs Progress

Updating

This refers to changing the contact type of a file to various states. Eg from non contacted to contacted. From right party contact (RPC) to temporary not contactable (TNC) or to Third-party contact and vice versa.

The following are some of the instances of when we should update a file.

  •  When a file is new a non contacted file. Usually loaded in the new batch campaign.

NOTE: All new files which are non contacted should be updated at all times.

  • When a files changes its state from being a TNC to a RPC.
  • To make a file be held by you.

Progressing

This is usually done to maintain the previous contact type of a file. E.g. If a file was a right-party>negotiation in progress then we follow up later in the day and changes to a TNC, the file will still be a right-party>nip the next time if progressed.

Some the instances to progress a file is as follows:

  • When a file has an RPC contact type then changes to a TNC over a short period of time.

Note: When progressing , also change the contact status it,will still maintain the right party state of the last update.

As above shown, a file was an RPC initially and then it became a TNC, we see that eventually the file maintains the  RPC state in the next update.

  • When a file is a TNC and it is still a TNC.
  • To maintain the auto-location status of a file eg if a file is held by an agent.

NOTE: You progress a file even when a file is held by agent and then becomes a TNC, this will still maintain the allocation of the file to the agent despite changing the contact type while progressing.

New files (Non-contacted) should NOT be progressed irregardless of its outcome.
